Little Tikes Cape Cottage Playhouse Review : Toddler Toys

Thursday, August 27, 2015

One of the coolest things about having a two year old toddler is the imaginative play that starts to take place. Some days he pretends he is a dragon, other days he and his friends make up their own world. But recently, one of his favorite toys to play in has been his new Cape Cottage Playhouse by Little Tikes. My two year old loves this outdoor toy so much that I couldn't wait to review it and spread the love!

Top 5 Nurturing Tips for New Dads {guest post}

Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Mothers nurture their babies for nine months in their womb, care for them when they are born and are understandably more attached to the newborn than fathers are. When we brought home our first child, I remember my husband shying away from the nursery. So one evening, after he came home from work, I put our boy in his arms and snuck away to the kitchen to prepare dinner. When I came back to check on my boys, I found them staring into each other’s faces while my husband was telling our son about his day at work. It was just the jitters that he needed to get out. Fathers are not just the second adult in the house; they can influence their children’s lives immensely. So, here are some tips on how to become a supportive new dad:

Toddler Dragon Adventures in Surprize by Stride Rite

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

This post brought to you by Stride Rite. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Tall Mom tiny baby .
Some great advice I once heard was to buy comfortable shoes and a fantastic bed mattress - because you spend all of your day in either one or the other. I've totally taken this to heart, not just for myself, but also for my family.
My son currently thinks he is a dragon....90% of the day.
He likes to pretend to fly, run incredibly fast across our yard, and when he eats - he says he is doing "Dragon Bites!"

Our rough and tumble toddler lives life to the fullest, and with all of his daily dragon adventures, his shoes really can take a beating
We've had our fair share of shoes in our household (especially since kids' feet grow at an exceedingly fast rate) and we've learned our lesson to trust brand names that have have made it through the test of time.

My most recent shoe purchase that I'd like to recommend is the shoe brand Stride Rite (who have been in business since 1919) and their new line called Surprize which is only available at Target and Target.com.
These shoes are awesome in my opinion because of three key points:
  • Comfort – These shoes have a generous fit and all memory foam footbeds, ensuring great comfort for your kids
  • Fit – The shoes have very flexible outsoles allowing for an agile, natural step and growth
  • Durability – The rubber toes ensure durability
They have Surprize for girls and Surprize for boysWe chose the toddler boy's Darion Sneakers, which I picked up at my local Target store, and they have certainly been up for son's dragon adventures!!
What types of qualities do you look in for shoes for you or your family?
Talk soon friends - I'm off to have some more Dragon Adventures!

Time sure does pass quickly when you have a baby. One minute they are a newborn, and the next they are a two year old toddler, running around a playground and laughing with friends.

What seems like a long long time ago, in a galaxy far away, we dealt with a terrible foe.

My baby was teething.

Being a human is hard.  Being an adult is even harder.  Being a parent, on top of being an adult and a human is kind of the hardest thing ever.  Not only are you responsible for yourself, but now you have spawn that is totally dependent on you too.  Wait a sec, I can barely clean my own room - who the heck thought it was a good idea to add MORE responsibility to my plate? Oh yeah, me.  Oops.  But here's the problem (deep breath) I've added ANOTHER spawn to my full day, and I am losing track of my day.  But, Tall Dad and I came up with a great plan on how to keep track of it all...

Here's the truth - that whole idea of "sympathy weight" - you know, when a guy gains a ton of weight during his wife's pregnancy because of hormonal issues etc. - is 100% TRUE.  Why do I know this? It happened to me.  No, it didn't happen with the first kid we had, but it hit like an unstoppable force with the latest addition to the Tall Family.  I gained nearly 20 pounds.  Yes, you read that right, 20 freakin' pounds.  Some of it's my fault, some it's Tall Mom's fault, but the real fault lie in the fact that I love dessert way too much.  But, I've got a plan.  I'm ridding myself of this gut and here's how I'm going to do it...

Is anyone else in the same situation as me? My to-do list is a mile long. I have a notebook version of a to-do list, a list on my fridge and even one in my reminders section on my iPhone.

The rate at which I accomplish my tasks and errands has really slowed down over the past few months. I see the looming list of things and occasionally get overwhelmed.

Why haven't we been able to do these things?

Oh yeah, because we just had a baby!

I was walking by our local butcher shop, and I was in terrible pain. Each step was agony, and I felt like my journey, which was only a half mile at that point, was never going to end. I made a terrible mistake.

I had gone for a walk in my sneakers, without socks on....
